Ascension Parish Criminal Court Records

State Criminal Background Checks

The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information administers statewide criminal history records. Background checks can be requested through the following methods:

  1. OnlineInternet Background Checks are available at $26 per search (paid by credit card). New users must register for an account.
  2. Right to Review (personal records) — Individuals can review their own criminal history by scheduling an appointment through the Louisiana Applicant Processing System (LAPS) at an IdentoGO digital fingerprinting site.
  3. Mail — Submit fingerprints, completed Right to Review Authorization Form, and payment to the Bureau of Criminal Identification, P.O. Box 66614, Mail Slip A-6, Baton Rouge, LA 70896.
  4. Third-party requests — Require a completed authorization form and general disclosure form, along with payment and valid ID.

Note that effective December 1, 2024, a $5 technology fee was added to all background check requests per La. R.S. 15:587 D(1).
