Louisiana State Police Criminal History

Statewide criminal background checks are available through the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information (BCII). Individuals may request their own record by submitting a Right to Review Form with a $26 processing fee (plus $10 for fingerprints if applicable). Online requests by authorized agencies are made through the Internet Background Check portal. The BCII accepts in-person requests Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at its Baton Rouge office, and mail requests at P.O. Box 66614, Box A-6, Baton Rouge, LA 70896.

Tangipahoa Parish Civil Court Records

The Civil Department is responsible for filing all civil suits, domestic suits, adoptions, successions, and related pleadings in Tangipahoa Parish. The department issues citations, writs, subpoenas, and other court process under the seal of the 21st Judicial District Court.

Under La. R.S. 13:842, advance payment of anticipated costs is collected from the plaintiff at the time of filing. Divorce Records

Divorce records (dissolution of marriage) are maintained as civil court records and may be searched through the Civil eSearch Site or requested in person, by phone, or by mail. Copies follow the standard civil fee schedule ($1.00 per page, $10.00 for certification, $10.00 search fee). A name or approximate date of divorce is needed to locate a record.

Birth and Death Records

Louisiana is a closed-record state for vital records. Birth records are confidential for 100 years, and death records are confidential for 50 years (La. R.S. 40:39 and La. R.S. 40:61). Only eligible persons—the registrant, immediate family members, legal guardians, legal representatives, insurance beneficiaries, or authorized non-family members—may purchase certified copies.

Applications for birth certificates and death certificates are accepted at the Amite office only (110 N.
